Putting poetry in its place: Troika's poetry list goes from strength to strength in 2020/21
2020 has been quite a year for Troika’s poets! Zaro Weil’s Cherry Moon won the 2020 CLiPPA Award for its beautiful writing and exquisite illustrations. Dom Conlon’s Moon-themed collection, This Rock, That Rock is nominated for both the Kate Greenaway and Carnegie Medals. And Jay Hulme’s powerful collection Clouds Cannot Cover Us is also nominated for a Carnegie Medal.
This year we’ve focused almost entirely on poetry. We’ve experimented with a range of formats and presentations, and strived to match the vibrant imaginations of our poets with the right artists and illustrators to enhance the overall experience for readers. While we’re still exploring and experimenting – and hope we always will be – we’re confident that our recent titles, which also include Shauna Darling Robertson’s Saturdays at the Imaginarium, Sue Hardy-Dawson’s If I Were Other than Myself and Coral Rumble’s Riding a Lion, all reflect our vision of what a great book of poetry for children should look and feel like.
In 2021 we’re excited to be publishing two new collections by Zaro Weil, Neal Zetter’s When the Bell Goes illustrated by Emily Ford, Coral Rumble’s verse novel Little Light and Shauna Darling Robertson’s You Are Not Alone.
