Gillian McClure has written and illustrated many picture books including The Little White Sprite, Zoe's Boat (“an appealing adventure for newly independent readers” - Books for Keeps), We’re Going to Build a Dam (“a hymn to the joy of messing about on the beach” - Jane Ray), Flood (“a warm and beautifully illustrated story about cooperation in adversity” - Anthony Browne) and Mouse in the House (“a picture book for the very young that offers delight at each re-reading” - Carousel).

​She has been highly commended in the Kate Greenaway Medal and is winner of the US Parent's Guide to Children's Media Award for Outstanding Achievement in Children's Books for Selkie A Scottish Folk Tale.

Gillian lives in Cambridge. From 2010 - 2016 she ran her own publishing company, Plaister Press.
