After studying linguistics and working as a magazine writer and editor in London, Sydney and Melbourne, Rachel switched to writing for children and “always has new projects brewing”.
She was born in Australia, has lived in the UK since she age six, and now lives in Bath with her husband, two children and a dog called Rocket.
Rachel’s first book for Troika, Day of the Whale, was nominated for the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Writing 2023 and her second, Electric Life, was long-listed in 2024.
Other books include the dark and gruesome Mort the Meek series, and comedy series Jim Reaper. Rachel also writes fiction and poetry for accelerated reading schemes and Level Readers to help children gain reading confidence.
