Published today: Sue Hardy-Dawson's new poetry collection 'If I Were Other Than Myself'
We’re extremely excited to announce the publication today of Sue Hardy-Dawson’s second collection of poems, If I Were Other Than Myself.
Written and illustrated by Sue, it’s a stunning collection full of magical fantasy and dream-like inventions that invite young imaginations to run wild.
Says Sue, “I have an eclectic brain and I find inspiration in all kinds of places. For instance, have you ever wondered if shadows have their own existence, or how a fallen leaf or even an electric pylon might feel? These are the sort of questions I ask myself and try to answer."
You can read more about Sue’s thoughts behind the book over at the The Reading Realm, where she talks to Ian Eagleton about things like where the book’s title came from, how she goes about both writing and illustrating her poems, and how this new collection differs from her first, the CLiPPA-shortlisted Where Zebras Go.
Says Sue, “What I hope those who read it will find and feel in it is the joy of exploring otherness, the natural world and playing with language.”
